DR SIMON CRAIG BVSc (Distinction), MACVSc (Small Animal Medicine & Dentistry)
Simon grew up in sunny Wellington, New Zealand. He grew up with numerous cats and has always wanted to work with animals.
After graduating from Massey University New Zealand with distinction in 1998, he moved to Melbourne where he worked for 2 years. Then he moved to England for just over 4 years, mainly working in Rochester, Kent. While in England, Simon worked closely with veterinary specialists in many fields including internal medicine and dentistry. This broadened Simon’s knowledge and experience, particularly with difficult internal medicine and dentistry cases.
After returning to Australia in mid-2005, Simon commenced work at Gordon Veterinary Hospital. After an intensive 12 month study programme starting in 2006, Simon passed his examinations and became a Member of the Australian College of Veterinary Scientists in Small Animal Medicine. He has since gained membership to the chapter of Small Animal Dentistry in mid 2008, which is only obtained after rigorous examinations - a qualification gained by only a handful of vets in Sydney. Currently there are only 18 members in this discipline. Simon’s focus in veterinary dentistry is in prevention through educating his clients and his expertise has lifted the standard of care in this practice and Gordon Vet Hospital is now considered one of the top dental facilities in Sydney for your pet.
Simon’s main interests are endocrinology (such as diabetes mellitus and Cushing’s disease), infectious diseases, dermatology and of course dentistry. Simon is constantly updating his already extensive knowledge by regularly attending veterinary seminars and conferences.
Simon’s interests outside of work include snorkelling, diving, hiking, photography, food and wine. He also has a young Burmese cat called Tui, who is as obsessed about food as he is!
