Katrina was born and raised as a country girl in Goulburn, NSW. She moved to Sydney in 2006 to pursue a career in veterinary nursing at Gordon Veterinary Hospital.
Her love for animals began as a child, when at one stage she recalls having 13 cats! Now she looks after budgies and goldfish at home in a local rental property. Her parents look after “Lolly” her Maltese back in Goulburn.
Exceptional customer service skills and pet health advice are just some of Katrina’s areas of expertise, having previous experience working in a pharmacy, an aged care facility and a pet shop in Wollongong for over 2 years, which she managed for 12 months.
More recently, Katrina has completed her Certificate II in Animal Studies in 2008 through the Animal Industries Resource Centre and is on her way to completely Certificates III & IV. She has also completed a puppy pre-school training lecture and is one of our most senior advisories for clients for paediatric health advice.
Katrina is also a qualified pet health nutritionist in Hills Science Diet products; our current number one diet recommended here and has also completed the Pet Slimmers program (like Weight Watchers for pets!). She has been heavily involved in many success stories with pets losing weight, including “Apollo”, an obese Labrador acquired through a rescue program, who dropped from 57kg to a healthy 35kg - an amazing result.
“Working as a veterinary nurse is a very satisfying career. I love the variety in my job as well as interacting with pet owners and giving advice. What I love the most is seeing the difference between a sick pet coming in one day and being well again when they go home. The joy on the owner’s face makes it all worthwhile.”
