Hollie started work at Gordon Veterinary Hospital in July 2005 and is one of our talented surgical nurses. Her vet nursing qualifications include Certificate 2 & 3 in Animal Studies as well as Certificate 4 in Veterinary Nursing, achieved through studying at Richmond TAFE. Prior to nursing, Hollie completed a Diploma in Tourism Management and has had experience in the hospitality and service industry. Her combination of skills and attention to detail makes Hollie a pleasure to work with.
Hollie developed meningitis at 14 months of age and as a consequence became hearing impaired but she has not let this stop her pursuing her dream of working with animals. Hollie is now one of our most experienced vet nurses. Her areas of expertise include anaesthetic monitoring, surgical theatre nursing and brilliant animal handling skills – especially cats during blood collection!
In 2008, Hollie underwent a training course in veterinary dentistry and is now our primary dental hygienist at the practice.
She went to high school locally at St.Ives High School and currently lives on acreage in Kenthurst, amongst deer, birds, rabbits, horses and fish. This includes two hand reared Cockatiels and two tame Rainbow Lorikeets that talk.
Hollie’s Tibetan Spaniel dog, Phoebe, is also very demanding of her attention and quite spoilt!
Her rural upbringing and close family network has helped shape her down-to-earth personality. Hollie is generally a high achiever and this extends into her home life. Previously, she was heavily involved in showjumping, winning many championship events and a member of Sydney Showjumping Clubs. Her current sport is soccer, where she represented Australia in the Deaflympics in 2005 and has been a part of the Australian Elite Squad since then.
Hollie also enjoys touch football, dog walking and exploring different cultural backgrounds through overseas travel.
